We got a blue wheelie bin last week for all out recyclables. They said its a fortnightly collection, one week blue bin, recycling, and one week green bin, non recycling. I thought that will just be fucking mental, our bin collected every other week, there are 6 of us here and we fill the wheelie bin to overloaded in a week.

Anyway, we get the blue bin and start to put all the recycle stuff in it, it is amazing how much we throw/threw away that could be recycled. I would say its 98% of our rubbish. So all this moaning about rats and the smell is bollocks, cos all my normal wheelie bin has in it is a few carrier bags with food, the lid is closed tight so no smells, no maggots and no rats.
Like I said in another thread, we have to be forced to do these things otherwise we wouldn't bother.

Nope, they won't collect it from there, supposed to put the bag on the pavement, but we don't have one of them. I leave it to the butler to worry about :)

We had two bins, one for everyday rubbish and a recycling bin. The trouble is i live near the moors and at the side of my house theres a public footpath covered by trees where all the teenagers go up to drink cider where there parents cant find them lol. Every sunday morning my bin would be full of cans and bottles (which i dont mind as long as they not throwing it in the garden) then one monday i go out to see the little bastards have knicked my recycling bin!! I found it half way down the path with the lid off and a hole in the side, they had been sitting eachother in it and pushing it down the path. I asked the council for another and i am still waiting, so all those stuff that could be recycled i have to throw away with my normal rubbish which i hate doing.

We have had this system for a couple of years now, wait until the first time you have a little extra rubbish and they refuse to take it away. They told me health and safety, it is over-filled and the lid could flop open and injure them!!

a squirt of fuel and a match will help reduce the load of rubbish. works for me.

But do it to the dust twat wagon rather than your bin or you will be waiting weeks for a new one ;)
