View Full Version : Running in the family
do you have any plans or thoughts on handing over your biz in the family or involving family members using their talents? like your kids once old enough doing artwork/design, coding, backoffice stuff, marketing, producing content (art or photo/video), .... ?
we're already having an eye on all 3 brats, trying to work out where their interests my be in a few years. at least one is an artist (drawing), and all 3 like fiddling with computers and trying their design talents.
a proper computer geek would be nice. :D

that would be ideal if my kids turned out to be geeks but if they are of age and choose to do adult then that is their choice, but I would do everything I could for them to have other interests
i might have a bit of a different approach to it than many. for me selling naked people pics is the same as selling apples. every product finds its market, you need to make it attractive to the potential customer.
hence i also see the business we run like any other. and it's a common thing not to kill off your biz when you retire, but to hand it over. and it's also common to have your kids work in it, if there is demand for their skills and the power to pay them accordingly.
noone having any future plans for their biz?

To be honest, I do not think my family would bother.
To be honest, if I became ill, I would probably give everything free (that's websites, content and all) to any person who would carry it going, as it would be a shame to stop.
We have employed family members going right back to the 1980s and we now even have family who are directors with our Murcia and Nevada companies. Blood is thicker than water and employing family has really been good for us over the years. Probably the best decision we ever made and it has worked out very well for us in loads of different ways.

I had the opposite experince of SGS I employed my brother back in 97 paid him a excellent wage 3 times what he had been used to earning. He never took the job seriously he took 2 hours lunch breaks, never showed up things like that in the end I had to tell him it wasnt working out. So he has never talked to me since.
I have 3 businesses outside of porn and wont employ any relatives in those either.

Bad news. I would never have spoken to him either.

I remember a few years back. In London a chap was selling r&b music ring tones. He was making a million from it.
But he employed his thick family, who were a wast of space.
He tried to give his family a break, but they were just taking the p*ss. Basicly wanting the cash, but putting no effort it.
I think most eople have no idea how to run a business. My cousin is opeing a shop. So what does she do, she goes on holiday when the shop has to have a lot doing to it before it opens. I love her a lot, but I know deep down she has no idea what she is doing. I can see in a few years it will be me running the business, or she will go bust.
