Bare with me guys - everything i have learnt about this indestry is from an american perspective (xbiz.com articles, etc).
I would like to buy some british content (pictures/movies) for a site but can not find one single british content provider. I would have already used an american content provider but british accents are key to my plan.
Are the majority of sites shooting their own content? If not, where is it coming from? Who are the big providers?
Hi Tom, you could try http://www.adultcontent.co.uk but you might find a lot of their content is already used a lot.

I shoot all my own stuff as I know what I need - I also know most of the other guys here feel the same -
In the long run, it pays you to look at doing the same for three reasons - 1) Your surfer is guaranteed a unique tour - This gives you better sign up ratios.
2) Plenty of good updates gives you a more satisfied member - No chargeback problems for you.
4) Members stay longer - More profit for your early retirement.
We shoot everything in-house and have done from day one.
I'm ready to shoot my own content if needed. What are the risks? Is there anything I should know? What paperwork should be involved with the actors? Which laws should I watch out for? So many questions.. sorry.
I have females ready to go but no males. How much are you guys paying actors? Where can I find some?

If you are over the pond, you might have a major 2257 problem.
We cannot provide anyone with the models private details without the written consent of the model due to our data protaction laws. Any shoots done in the UK prior to June 23rd 2005 will not have this.
Since then, most photographers and producers have added a clause which the model must sign separately, stating she agrees that her details may be made available to US Government personel if requested.
We shoot our own content for both of our sites and always have done. I dabbled in buying in some content for another paysite we started but frankly the sign up ratio was absolute crap because none of that content was exclusive.

For us the biggest risk when hiring models is that a remarkable number of them are horribly unprofessional and unreliable. However, if you ask around discretely then you'll soon hear who has a good reputation and who doesnt.
Paperwork wise arm yourself with a model release form, a receipt and a copy of the model's photo ID (passport or photocard driving license). The obvious law to watch out for are the age laws. Familiarise yourself with who can legally shoot what. Personally we do not hire girls under 21 for shadowslaves.
Can I suggest you try the BGAFD board for a model call on male talent (we have inhouse male talent LOL) and if you're doing hardcore ask to see a current HIV certificate from ALL of the performers.
