I agree with JP its shite, all the boring non smokers sat in a cirlcle looking smug. Everyone i was out with smoked so spent half the night stood outside in the freezing cold! There were people having crafty fags in the loos they looked like they were back at school waving it out the windows lol. Git pissed tho and had a laugh but i dont think well be going out that often :(

no its shit even for a non smoker, i was sat in a bar tonight and even tho it used to be smoking down stairs non upstairs u cant smoke even tho they dont come into contact with eachother, i just thought wtf is the problem there?
Plus non smokers with smoking friends have to stand outside too to chat with their mates.
The pubs are dead cos everyone is stood outside.
Plus it will lead to more girls leaving their drinks and getting spiked.
Leads to more fights cos the non smokers look so smug u wanna smack em, plus u havint had a fag so u ready to punch someone anyway lol.
Its awful, clearly not a good idea.

You forgot the BO pubs and clubs stink of of it without smoke covering it up. Used to work in clubs when I was younger, and when you turned up before opening time, they fucking stank, and it wasn't fags either. The smoke would cover it up after a while.

if you don't register a club but meet up 'casually' there is nothing public about the meeting. hence a good smoke shouldn't be an issue. preferably accompanied by a nice choice of single malt.

It is rubbish and you are right about the clubs and pubs smelling worse than before, i dont see any reason why smoking and non smoking pubs cant be allowed.

What pisses me off is, You can see a fat non smoker sat outside macdonnalds eating a greasy burger, fries a coke and ice cream, sat near traffic fumes, and this is the same person who maons that he doesnt want smokers smoking in pubs cos its bad for him. pmsl

I don't know why the Gov didn't extend the old law and have pubs that serve food non-smoking then give the pubs that don't serve food the choice to allow smoking or not. Then the smug twat non-smokers can go to their pubs and we can go to our pubs and smoke and kill ourselves in fuckin peace.
If people want to go to a busy pub and that pub happens to have a no-smoking rule or a smoking allowed rule then it is up to the individual to make the choice.:P

Strangley enough I have not been out as often for the past 5 weeks and I have stopped smoking, just don't like the whinning fuckin smug twat no-smokers that keep goin on and on.

exactly people should be given a choice. When i was pregnant i didnt like people smoking near me, my house is no smoking anyway but if i wanted to go out i would choose to sit in a non smoking area or put up with smoking. If people were given a choice it would be their own choice and they dont have to put up with smokers, smokers could have a fag in peace.

The only good thing about this no smoking rule is u dont run the risk of losing ur lighter in a club, going upto someone 4 a light n it being a non smoker who tells u how bad smoking is. You can go outside and find ur own little gang of filthy smokers who will have one!

When asking someone for light who was a non-smoker who then lectured me on about how bad it was to smoke,I would listen and then finish the conversation with "I CAN stop smoking if I choose too, you on the other hand are ugly and have restricted options"

How do you get a choice? Have they invented smoke that doesnt travel now?

Two things to consider here

1. As someone who goes to the pub every night (apart from Sundays) with people who go to the pub every night. It is a much nicer place to go.

2. It is never comming back so get use to it. :P

Complaining about not being able to smoke is the same as the people who complained when throwing your piss and shit out of the window into the street was banned.

Travelling smoke!!!!!!
I doubt the smoke from the smoking allowed pubs will go looking for the no-smoking allowed pubs just to annoy the non-smokers, so how can it travel?
By bus, taxi how?

It is about the choice to go to pub that allows smoking or one that doesn't allow smoking, the customers choice.:reading:

Give them the option to work in either a no-smoking allowed pub or a smoking allowed pub. From the reaction of the public the non smoking pub staff will not have a problem getting a job as there would probably be more no smoking allowd pubs than smoking allowed pubs, plus the pubs and bars that serve food.Again it is the choice of the person going for the job.

yes, when they banned throwing your piss and shit out on the street, people were just as annoyed.

Maybe what they should have done was have streets where it was ok to throw your piss and shit out of the window and streets where it wasnt OK. Those that didnt want piss and shit in the streets could have taken alternate routes to work. So everyone had a choice

Since when did people in the UK start to care about the health of total strangers.
Lets face it the debate is a two sided debate conduct by two sets of people with two seperate very selfish reasons for either supporting or not supporting the new law.

What is annoying me is these people who do like to go out and smoke are getting this right taken away from them when it could be solved by having smoking and non smoking places. People who do not wish to work in smoky places will have plenty of non smoking bars they can work in. And why the hell is it ok for MPs to smoke in their bar and not us??? Yeh it maybe killing us, but if a smoker want to kill him/herself then give them a place to let them do it by themselves and give them drink to help speed it up a bit.

There's a boozer just down the road from me and the main issues on the dabete seem to be taking a different angle with the people who live closer to it.

Noise it seems is becoming more of a problem as there are little gangs outside smoking virtually all night now. Must admit that I wouldn't want that right outside my front window!

And there's an increase in litter and broken glass all over the place.

Not quite on my door step but I can see how some of the peeps are feeling.

The ban is here forever? really? Cannabis used to be a drug. Now it isn't. The poll tax is long gone. Not all laws last - and rightly so.

We just have to start expecting our politicians to do as they are told a bit more. This modern idea that once a law is passed that's it forever is a pile of shit and its about time we stopped tolerating it.

Lets un-ban fox hunting and handguns and get out of the EUssr. Ok, now I'm trolling.

cannabis is still a drug, its just downgraded. The reason being it is thought to be less harmfull. Are you saying in 10 years time scientists will decide smoking isnt bad for you after all?

The poll tax is long gone is it? Glad to see when they changed the name to council tax that it did fool at least one person :)

The world is changing, smoking in public places isnt comming back in our life time I doubt. Just like we wont be allowed to throw our shit out in the high street again any time soon. Thats progress for ya :)The problem is - cannabis is now KNOWN to be much more harmful than anyone previously thought, but its still much less illegal than it used to be. Go figure. Mostly because the cops can't be bothered to deal with it I would suspect.

The poll tax IS gone, council tax is now based on the house you live in and how big it is. - Which would be exactly the same as the old "Rates" system, nothing at all like the per person individual Poll Tax.

Its not that smoking won't be back in our lifetimes; its not gone away in the first place.

I don't smoke, never have and never will. I just hate being told what I can and can't do.

BTW Ginger Liberal Democrat twat Charles Kennedy got caught last week smoking on a train. His excuse, and one that the plod were perfectly happy with was - As he was blowing the smoke out of the window he thought it was ok. So there you. Smoke where you like and blow out of the window.
