its been banned in Jersey since 1st January. Funny how we've all got used to it (and I'm a smoker).

Must admit the bars smell nicer.

As I also sing in a band I've noticed that my voice seems to last longer without inhaling the 2nd hand woodbines.

The only problem is the smug bastards who think they've won a major battle against the evil smoker (which I suppose they have really.........)

most places are making outside areas now so most of us just sit in the beer gardens under the marquee's

Pubs round here have put telly's in the windows so that you can sit in the beer garden puffing away and still watch the cricket

i help run a rock and blues night on a sunday, reasonable audience this week, but people getting up and going outside all through the act-even the bands cut their sets short to grab a smoke.
from what i heard, were going to be 20-30% down on attendance next week.

I will now start going back to the Pub.

Having given up (Not sure if I ever mentioned I gave up ? ;)) back in January I found it really difficult in my local to the point where I was hardly going there anymore, to get to the bog you had to walk right through the middle of the smoking section, as the night wore on & the booze took it's effect I would find my resistance weakening on my way to unload my bladder as I smelt the smoke & saw smokers pulling on fags all smiley & chilled, once or twice I left early as I was certain I was about to cave in.

Now I wont have this problem, I will dance through what used to be the smoking section on the way to the pisser & breathe in the air :)

(I gave up on 3rd January 2007, not had a single pull on a ciggy since then, it is possible to quit, good luck if you are currently trying to stop)

well, if its anything like the fucking shit night i had in the pub on sunday, you'll have to fight through the crowds to get outside (loosing half your pint in the process) shiver like heck as you smoke on the pavement with all the other smokers then find that the space you had in the pub has now gone and you have to wait for the next smoker to go outside so you can nick his space.

why the fuck we cannot have smoking and non-smoking pubs, i'll never know

I agree and who wants to leave their drinks on a table while they go out for a cig, also remember a lot of places on a weekend will make u pay to get in again, its totally unworkable.

I live in a small village, and Sunday evening there was no fucker in the pub, well that's a lie, there were about 6 people in there, and over 30 outside for most of the evening, including a few non smokers who were pissed off and bored on there own inside.
i thought it was going to be crap, but here the pubs have just moved outdoors, the Landlords must be hating the gas bills on the patio heaters though lol.

my solution is this....have two plastics tubes, both leading to your mouth, the other end outside a window, one tube has the fag in the other end so you can inhale on it, the other tube you use to blow smoke out with hehe

well elast beer gardens are aloowing it, just gonna be a pisser in the winter!

Says something about your mates if they would rather stand outside smoking than be inside talking to you.

we had the ban since april and its good, the pubs/clubs that don't have an outside area to smoke in usally put a stamp on your hand so they know you've already paid, but leeds is abit backwards in coming fowards

The only good thing about this ban so far is the amount of money I'll save by not going to the pub.

Should be in the boozer now, but fuck it, can't muster up the enthusiasm... knowing that we'll spend most of the time either stood outside or on the roof garden. And it looks like rain. :geezer:

Yeah its fucking Shit... Took the wife to the Lakes for a couple of days. Did my head in LoL Stuck in a No Smoking Hotel room then went from pub to pub trying to be sociable without a fag. After day two I said fuck it I'm off home for a good smoke

Don't get me wrong! I think its a good idea... just over policed and enforced. They should have allowed Pubs and Bar owners to choose if they wanted their premises to be Smoking or none Smoking and clearly marked up so none smokers could easily drive by in disgust and find another pub or bar for none smokers only etc

100% behind banning all smoking in restaurants and offices etc.. There now talking of trying to ban smoking while driving? C'mon lets face it! Looking at the Sat-Nav is more distracting than smoking while driving and can you imagine the Road Rage this would cause...

I feel better now after my little vent...

Aren't statistics wonderful things.. I still like to stay in the pub with the good looking, fresh breathed ones that don't smell like ashtrays...
