would you be thinking of quitting this business with the problems of the new 2257 laws if you only a small 1-2 employees operation?
I think if I was based in the US I would have sat down six months ago and seriously thought about selling up. If you where relatively new to the business I wouldn't see it being much of a problem becoming 2257 compliant but if you had content dating back before 2000 and avs sites, tgp galleries, free sites all over I think it would be a nightmare to become truly complaint.
I think UK and European sponsor programs could become stronger over the next couple of years with the new regs. I also think that UK webmasters are in a stronger position than our US counterparts for once. Which I think is evident to the US webmasters with some of their posts on other boards such as GFY.

If it was me, Id go none explicit with niches that dont require explicit pics. But I dont think in the main US webmasters are that creative or diverse. Thers a ton of great converting niches that dont require explicit pics.
Or I'd get a european sponsor who I trusted to give me free hosting and go very incognito
I'd migrate... LOL.
Seriously there will be a lot of shit getting out of the biz over there, I think. They even need the id's of models in banners now, that's how dumb it's got for them...
The debate about us hosting in the States will go on for a while I'm sure, but for now I've got this as a 2257: www.saharagetsdirty.com/2257.htm which I've been told is ok :)

Your 2257 covers things perfectly, Joe A.
I have now worries with this new law, but I am concerned over the new proposals for the .xxx extensions.
If, as it has been suggested, adult webmasters are behind the registration of these extensions, then I can see thousands of webmasters with decent .com domain names losing them in the .xxx rush.
I have had many of my domains since 1995/6 and would feel pretty pissed off by not getting the .xxx equivalents - I can see the scenario now of some turd contacting me to sell me kirstyblue.xxx for several thousand dollars!

Yep plus you got people with .coms, .co.uk's .nets .anything all wanting the one domain. Which lets face it the organisers are going to be stealing the good ones. Plus at $75 each Im looking at $7,500 as an initial outlay just to get my top 100 names

Not sure about other extentions - I think this is an American thing affecting .coms mainly - Those suckers can not legislate for the real world, just their part! So X.co.uk should be affected

Yep but most of us use .com's

there'd most likely be sunrise period, where the holders of domains with a certain recognition on the market (and do not ask me how anyone would rate the recognition) are allowed to cover their .com as .xxx first.
the real issue is, what about those names where there are equally strong .com .net and maybe .org versions with different owners each? tons of fun.
