What different software do people use and recommend virus/trojan/keylogger checks etc.
I already use AVG and Norton Internet Securities both with the recent updates and scan regularly.
I also use HiJackThis regularly.
Any other checks I should be doing?

You use Norton AND avg? blimey. AVG should do it for viruses for you. Norton is a horrible system hog.
You don't seem to be checking for spy/malware...
adaware, spybot etc would be worth running.
but being a mung bean eating Mac Hippy, I don't have to concern myself with such things.
:D

Yeah well I sued Norton for a while on all machines and the free version of AVG on one machine but then AVG had a good 3 machine 2 year deal so I upgraded :) They don't run and monitor stuff simultaneously. But I alternate my scans with them.

I thought both Norton and AVG had good ad/spybot stuff, I'll check them out anyway.

Fair play, but i wouldn't trust either for PC malware.
You really need to run about 3 mal/spyware apps and one decent virus app nowadays.
They all find things the other doesn't.

Yes the more more more attitude is what I want to try and adopt after todays little dedacle.
I use ....
NOD32 for virus protection .... best AV I've ever used and has very low cpu overheads.
Ad-aware professional, Spybot search & destroy for other nasties.

Been using FF for while now. :)
I use McAfee virus thingy & I also use Spyware Doc http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/
(Run a scan for free to see what crap you've got but the catch is if you wanna remove it you gotta pay, that said it is rather good)
Oh, & I also eat pies :)
I don't know spyware doc, but adaware and spybot are free.
When I had my last windows box that's what I used anyway.

I use zone alarm which I’m fairly happy with. Started off as a firewall but seems to do the whole lot, also comes with a fairly good spam filter, at least better than any others I have tried.
But as much as I have been anti mac the next computer I get will be a mac, which will quite likely convert me as I’m pretty fed up with the ms way of doing things.

Well viruses and spy/malware are a thing of the past when you switch to mac.
