I just got my BT bill and actually looked at it, well my missus did, and we have a £1.50 (monthly). The charge is to...pay the bill, so we have to pay BT to pay them, fucking amazing!.

I always thought it was a joke that we had to pay a line rental so we could make calls and give them money, but this is just mental. Apparently if you go on DD then you don't pay the charge, so again anyone without a bank account is penalised. I simply refuse to be forced into paying by DD, so now BT can fuck off. Surely they can't get away with this, although I suppose they can and will.

I said the girl I think its bad enough we have to pay a "line rental" she said "BT have to rent the lines so we have to charge the customer" I said but BT own the lines, she ummed and arrred and said some old bollocks.

There was a huge fuss about this on watchdog.

Virgin Media charge FIVE QUID not to pay by DD.

Lots of people are doing it.

In fact they have a sample complaint letter you can send.

I have actually had good news from BT. Remember I had all that hassle about them loosing my DD mandate and cutting me off? Well it went legal (well I got a snotty letter from a debt collector - not actually CCJ legal). Then I heard some bloke on Radio 4 from BT saying to email him if you had any hassles. So I did. He replied to me on the weekend, apologising, saying how shit it was and he would escalate it immediately to get it resolved.

Fingers crossed...

How long before land lines are a thing of the past. I know some "younger" people who have their first place, and just use their mobiles. They are out most of the time, so are not worried about net usage, and conduct their email stuff at work.

Once the web is afforcably and easily coneected to via mobile accounts, landlines will surely just wither away.

Unless you leave where I do of course, I get a mobile signal for my phone every third Tuesday.

I don't have a landline, don't miss it at all. Cable provides my interwebz and I mainly use Skype out for calls to other phones.

BT and Sky both doubled charged us this month but wouldn't give it back and just credited it to the bill...Fuckers.

So I am on monthly so its £1.50 if you are on quarterly its £4.50. I just rang and asked how a processing fee can be different. I said if there is a processing fee and its £1.50 then its £1.50 whether I pay monthly or quarterly as its still just one bill to be paid.

I said I don't understand how they are willing to lose my business, which is more than £1.50 per month. I just hope eveyone moves off and fucks them up, not that it would.

So anyway if you pay quarterly you have to pay the £4.50 for the privelage of paying your bill.

well how about this..

I had my mobile stolen in Gran Canaria last week and they refuse to send out a new handset, even though i pay insurance.. why
because there is an outstanding amout of £250 on my account for data download charges that i NEVER use. they agreed this might be a mistake and put it on hold until they find out how it happened they STILL refused to send a new handset
when i pointed out that we have 5 contract phones and pay them around £400 a month and i would cancel them all... they, (Orange) didnt give a toss.. phones going in the bin soon

If more people actually said "fuck off" and did something about it these companys would have to change their ways. Its a bit like the TV licence, a lot of people moan about it but still pay it. The poll tax was actually something that the British finally said enough is enough about and did something.

I've just binned Orange, bunch of tossers. I repeatedly was getting a message on my phone saying that I had limited service, and it wouldn't let me dial out, despite the fact I had loads of signal, and am on contract paying the earth so they're getting their money.

When I phoned (on my landline cos the mobile wouldn't work) to cancel, they asked me why, and I said because the service is shite, and my phone only works half the time. They asked me if I'd like a cheaper rate, I said no thanks, just a phone that works, and the girl on the phone said OK fine, here's your PAC number.

three months later, they're threatening me for unpaid bills on a contract I cancelled :banghead:

threatening to cancel doesn't help. too many just shoot their mouth off and never follow through with it.

send the cancellation in writing, if you really mean a nice business to them, you will get a win back offer. if the don't and you desire to stick with them for some weird reason, withdraw the cancellation in time, presto.

Not had many dealing with these wankers then?

We do not mean anything to them and I can gaurantee they will not give a shit and will do nothing to get us back.

point missed.

threats on the phone arrive at some minimum wage cunt's ear, who doesn't give a flying fuck about you. the sooner you hang up, the sooner they can return to their curry pot noodles.

the written cancellation goes through the sales/aftersales/customer maintance dept. and they will want to keep you, if you are an interesting customer.

if not, would you really want to stick with a company like that?

We have an orange contract phone through pauls mother - she now has 10 on it, for family members although it's not for business we've told them that a million times yet gave her a biz account anyway so she gave up fighting it in the end!

We go through so much sit each ear to upgrade our phones and keep our numbers, it's a right load of old toss and we're throwing about 800 quid there way each month between the lot of us :( They just don't care.

NTL (Virgin), British Gas, NPOWER and multiple other companies have been doing this for years. BT start doing it and there is an uproar.
