Ok, time to show my naivety, but this is something that has been puzzling me. Why would someone sell traffic? I know lots do, and some on here are very good at it, people have built businesses around it, so there's obviously benefits that me, being a thick cunt, am missing.

I understand why traffic trading works, and have used it well to my advantage in the past, but selling traffic? Why would someone not just direct it to sponsors themselves, rather than selling it? Or is it like trading, traffic you've been unable to sell to, so are getting something back for it? If this is so, does it mean that bought traffic is inherently shite?

Or am I a thick bastard who just doen't get it at all? (no need to quote that saying yes for 15 posts)

edited for spelling

I've not bought loads of traffic but have tried a couple of times, sending to different types of sites. It's never worked for me though. In my experience I'd say purchased traffic was only any good for feeding TGPs / trade scripts.

They sell traffic cos 9 times out of 10 its shit traffic and only good for feeding trades etc. I would say most bought traffic is shit but then again it depends what you expect from it. If you expect to make lots of sales then you will be dissappointed. If you use it wisely it can be ok.

9 times out of 10 its not real. It's not as bad in adult as it use to be, but non adult brokers are very often just plain scammers at best. That isnt because Adult Brokers have got more honest, much more like the buyers are more clued up. The non adult market is still often full of marketing people and site owners who are really clueless.

As to why sell it when its real. Why do magazines sell spots spots to advertisers, why do TV sell adverts when they can all just use them themselves.

The answer is because they cant make as much out of it themselves as they would selling it. That isnt to say to someone else cant make more out of it.

But like Geezer says, its only good for starting trades. Not for any real reason other than the way it is skimed to send to a site. Why would anyone expect any different. Its blind traffic mainly that has been skimmed from TGP's. In those circumstances why would anyone expect to make a sale from it if sent to anything other than another TGP

Ok cool, so I'm not missing anything majoe here then, it's good for starting or bumping trade scripts, but pretty useless for much else?
