Even though my daughter uses her PC online regularly for her homework, I've always make sure that Net Nanny & Norton Parental control is in place, and also that either me or my Wife keep an eye on her.
But reading this report, it sounds like a lot of children use the net unsupervised and suffer as a consequence.

we are living in an age where parents are happy to feed their kids McDonalds, because they cant be bothered to cook for them, sit them in front of the TV because they cant be bothered to spend time with them, so it comes to no supprise that they cant be bothered to protect them online, I expect alot more than 50% of adults have no computer skills at all and have no idea what their children are doing online

I agree.
I've seen and heard evidence of that with some of my daughters friends.
Like a lot of parents, I often get the "why can't I do so & so, my friends do?" question and my response is alway the same, "because their parents couldn't care less".
