Its odd how the media have taken this whole missing child on like no other.

Its almost as if people have forgotton that a girl has been taken and rather turned it into some sort of odd event.

We have famouse people all putting a few quid up so they can get there names in the papers (no doubt been told to by there publicitist).

We even have stunning sites such as www.bringmadeleinehome.com (http://www.bringmadeleinehome.com) and probably others too.

I wonder if the girl was not such as attractive as she is, would the media take so much notice. I mean if she was some fat kid or black or somthing, I suspect it would just get a small mention.

She has developed into a child celeb of sorts.

Its rather sick how the media have done this.

Rather reminds me of how the black guy was acquitted in "A Time to Kill" - funny how people's perceptions change, I think you're right.

It's all very well all the papers going on about it, but they're really cashing in as usual on a tragedy...

I was actually just thinking this and I said to missus yesterday that they seem to be going over the top with this. There was a "run for madeline" thing going on today and there is a 2.5 million pound reward. I'm sure kids go missing all the time but they don't get this much media attention. I do wonder if it would be the same had it been a single parent who used her dole money to go on holiday.

Of course its a terrible thing for the parents and everything that can be done should be done but "running"?, what is that going to achieve apart from raising money for someone to syphon off.

Maybe its because of the law on portugal that doesn't allow suspects to be shown in the media, so our media are trying to get as much out there as possible. I don't know but as sad as it is it just seems over the top.

Seems over the top to me to, pretty much runs on Sky news all day every day now, so earlier I did a quick google to see how many kids in this country go missing, in this country its about 100,000 a year

I watched it on the news this morning, the parents look too calm and relaxed to me. She was even smiling and fucking about with flowers. I dont have kids but Im sure that I would be more concerned than they seem to be!

Your all right, thousands of children go missing each year in the Uk alone and they dont get all this coverage to help find them. Just goes to show people will make money out of anything in this world if they can, i hope they find the girl alive and well i really do but im sure all these events etc aint increasing the chances anymore.
