How long is it? Could we not do like a big board group effort or something? A different kind of meet, obviously we couldn't all train together but you get what I mean?

I dont see me being able to run 26 miles, I'd go through about 3 sports bras before I even got half way....

I'd need years of training for that lmao im so unfit... the thing I love about the london marathon is last year when I was there, (not running but doing some work for a client on site over the weekend), seeing everyone at the end looking so exhausted but so happy with their medals around their neck.
Fuck all that for a game of soldiers.
My mate does Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). He wanted to stretch himself, so ran the London Marathon about 5 years ago with 3 weeks training. He used pain control techniques to do it.
Thing is, that night he had a gig at Ronnie Scott's. So he asked me to learn his guitar parts in case he was completely fucked after the marathon. So I did. All excited that I might be playing at Ronnie's.
I meet him at the end of the race. He honestly looked like he had run 2 mins for a bus. He was completely and utterly fine.
Bastard.

You could do a wankathon on webcam for charity. Bet you would raise A LOT more cash. And have ALOT more fun!
Just say you will do a cam show on such and such a site one weekend and ALL money will be donated to charity. Contact the webcam place and ask if they will donate their cut too.
Could get real publicity for your site.
I only charge a blowjob for this idea (from a girl)

What about wanking while running the marathon! You might get arrested lol but could be interesting lol. Actually your idea is quite good, we could get a nice little fund raiser group here :)

It was just one of those silly things that amuse me. Like my brother asking how you spell BMX, and I still rib him about it to this day :D
We had the same thing on ebay yesterday. Emailed a seller about how much shipping would be for a kilo of coffee. Their reply. Shipping costs depends on the weight...
Which is heavier a kilo of steel or a kilo of feathers? LOL

Just spoke with my mate who finished in 6h 20m 59s. Now he is 6' 7" and not the lightest chap in the world but he'd been training like a bastard for months. His synopsis of the experience was "Struggled like fuck from 8 miles on. Mouth is still as dry as Ghandi's flip flop, my knees and ankles feel like they're full of gravel and the nether regions are as raw and nasty as steak tartare." Ouch...but then again, maybe there's a niche for someone in and amongst the chaffing...
How long is it?
lolololol
all marathons are the same length (except when they are called snickers)

I don't think the structural integrity of the surrounding buildings would stand me running twenty six miles. Plus imagine all the car alarms going off. :)

True now, but not always. The current race distance is not that which Pheidippides (sp?) ran, but was chosen so that it would finish opposite the Royal Box during the 1908(?) Olympics.
The London one's a bugger to get in to. You've not much chance in the ballot; you can get a charity place, but they're too close to a scam for my liking - the marathon organisers SELL the places to the charities for something on the order of £300 each (place, not charity), or ten times the amount that an entry via the ballot costs. So the charity marks this up to £1500 and asks you to cough up this amount for the privilege of running. I ran the Honolulu marathon last year and, even if I'd just gone for the marathon, it would still have been cheaper than running the London one. It was bloody hot, though.
The Paris one is nice. The last few miles go through the Bois de Boulogne, and there's stalls out offering regional produce. So I had a glass or two of Beaujolais, some crackers with pate and a bit of cheese.

yeah, the traditional sporting marathon used to be 26 miles untill the london olymics when they added 365 yards. i think the mythical marathons lengh is in dispute, i read it was anything from ten miles to 100

Yeah, that's right - Windsor Castle to the then brand new White City Stadium.
