What's your experience? Dell or Viewsonic, both 22". Talking to sales reps they say that there are 2 brands that work gradients out really well, its Apple and Dell.. but my 19" Viewsonic looks kool too... so, i need anything better then that to see why should I change Viewsonic to Dell... Your 2 cents are welcomed.

I've got a cheap 22" Dell. It's great. My bro has dual 23" Apple cinema displays. They piss on it.

Depends on your budget.

dell is $420 here, viewsonic is $500, Apple comes as $800 .... Thats why im choosing between Dell and Viewsonic. Viewsonic was good to me, i have no Dell experience, can't also say $80 makes it a difference to me... Just curious if it's really true that Dell comes next to Apple as sales rep told me...

I have a Samsung 225bw, they have the 226bw out now which looks slightly nicer IMO...I would see how much you can get that for, I'm happy with mine.

I use two Dell 19" for editing and web use.

I recently bought my daughter an Acer 19" and I think it's far superior than the Dell, so you may be better off going for the Viewsonic.

Well I had a Dell before this, I was happy with that too...except that was a 19" flat panel, not widescreen...have no idea about the quality of their widescreen panels.

Have never used a Viewsonic.

There is more to it than that.

You cannot say 'Dell are good' or 'Dell are bad'.

There are many different models - they contain very different technology.

What models are you looking at? Read some reviews!

We use Samsung and Sony in the office here - Everything looks lovely on a Sony, but often that's the problem, as pics can look great on a sony and crap on anything else. I think there's a pretty strong suspicion that Dells contain Sony panels

We have a load of Samsung 213T's - the colours are a little more realistic than most TFTs and they're cheap for a flat panel as well. I'm relucatant to change them for anything more modern as we've been caught out before by over saturated colours on more modern screens. Overall the Samsungs have been great, 6 units and no dead pixels in up to about 3? years

Its worth a trip to Tottenham Court Road in London to see all of the current screens on display and working. I can't think of any other place you'll be able to find pretty much every panel in existence up and working.

BTW Computer Arts reviewed huge monitors a couple of months ago - The Dell came top in performance, though was not pretty. The Apple cinema was way down the list. They weren't that impressed with the Samsungs, but as I say, I see the more natural colours as an advantage.

However, you will find it cheaper to buy online. TCR is price controlled as there are actually only about 2 or 3 people that own all the electronics shops there.

By all means go and have a squizz - but do check they are using DVI and not VGA, and try and use the same source material for better comparative testing.
