How much content do you need to launch a site

that will update from day one twice weekly with two video clips of 30 mins and 3-400 stills of 100% exclusive (and quality HDV) content

Globill (sorry about the swearing) used to insist on 1500 photographs if it was a photograph based site and about 10 vid clips I seem to recall. Whoever is processing for you (assuming you're using a 3rd party processor) should have their own minimums so maybe it's worth mailing them to ask.

CCbill have passed the site with 4 clips and 500 stills
As from day one (yesterday) we intend to update once a week with two vid clips (30mins) and 3-400 stills

We think that given the 100% exclusivity and the quality thats enough

but i am getting loads of shit from the US about why there isnt thousands of stills and
hundreds of videos which are usually all shit anyway......lol

If a member can sign up for a month, and download the whole site at the first visit, then have to wait a few days for the next update, however good the content is, he will most likely not rebill.
Money in this game comes very little for initial sales - The profit is in the rebills.

Well actualy a lotta cash is in the 80% of non buyers at the tours if you optimise it for that.

If you can shake those for a few pennies each you still make a niche chunk of cash each day.

Of course - Surfers who do not buy from me make me a load of cash through my parked and traffic/cross sales set up. - But this thread was specifically based on content for members area - I was only referring to the members area cash -
Of course, X sells etc make a load of cash (if you can sell on a member 3-4 times - But those days are now long gone because of the spam laws - )

I am 100% confident in our content as thats our core business (Producing)
we have outsold the biggest in some markets due to our content quality and story lines so why not on the web.

In my opinion that's not enough for a site no mater how exclusive it is, unless its a real micro niche.

You will never get them to rebill you may even find a lot of refunds in the first few months. If I joined a site which took me an hour to download id be straight to ccbill asking for a refund.

They may join back later to see new content but unless you are targeting a niche and its not just hardcore I doubt it.

Ten times the amount you are launching with would be too little but again thats my opinion and no offense is meant.

In truth its not the amount of content but the quality.

I have seen sites full of pics of vide clips, but the thing was you could download the clips, and a few pics of each girl within a day. In this case the person will not stay long.

The trick is to make it enough and interesting enough to stay.

Personally, for a pro site content is just not enough. Take suicide girls in the usa. This is a huge site (also very cheap), full of content. Mainly pic sets, but also stuff written about the models by the models. Its not easy to simply log on, download the shots then leave. You have to explore this site. Its an experience just to look through it.

Sites loose customers because the content inside is dull. They join, see a few sets. That's it. OK, the promise to see a new girl in a weeks time may keep some.

The members area these days must be an experience.

Often webmasters aims are to get new customers, while the old ones get board and leave. If webmasters concentrated more on keeping customers happy, then they will need to do far less and make more.

I run several avs sites with my own content. I have members that have been on the site over 2 years. Why? Simple, my sites are not well designed, but I chat to those who have joined, and will try to do shoots they ask me to. In factor I have done several shoots with members girlfriends, as they just wanted to be on the site.

Also when it comes to content, check out the free hosted galleries some put out. Some are great, big photographs fast loading, but some sites put out low quality pics that look junk, just to save bandwidth. How daft is that, they promote there sites with poor quality shots on slow crappy servers. Would you want to join? Hell no.

Sites now seem to fall in the categories:

1. The 1990 site. Looks shit. Full of banners and pop ups. No effort (yes they look like mine).

2. Off the shelf. These sites look identical to tons of others. Clearly designed by a designer. These to me simply offer bought content.

3. The stand alone sites. These are the ones that look different. May not be the best design, but stand out. They make you feel that the content will not be bought and will offer you something extra. These to me will always be more successful.

I have been asked to look at some sites. I will not do this now due to stupid webmasters who will not take any comment. One chap asked me to look at his site. I looked, and found some vid clips did not work, and it needed to be made better inside. I pointed out within 3o mins I had get 4 pics from each set. But rather than saying fine, I will check it out, he gave me a mouth full and I was wrong. Odd, his site no longer exists now.

I agree if you are filling the site with crap that the surfer has seen on every other site it wouldnt make a difference.

What i was saying was that if you had 4000 exclusive pics and 40 30 min clips it may not be enough to keep the surfer on the site unless the site was a niche that was hard to find elsewhere. But I would say that would be the amount that you would be looking at to launch with then adding weekly to build up your rebill income. Rebilling is where the long term money is.

Why I said an hour to download the site if you only had 400 pics and 1hr of video thats all it would take to download on anything but a normal 56k modem.

Ive just been promoting a UK site 100% exclusive very niche. Converting excellent but the rebills where crap running at about 7% in the three months Ive been promoting it 3 people had refunded out of 70+ sales. I joined the site myself to see why, it was the members area after spending a few hours there the surfer had nothing else to do but cancel his membership. At the end of the month I will remove the galleries and promotional material I have promoting the site. As an affiliate a site is only worth sending traffic too if it can hold the surfer past the first month at a decent percentage. If say 1 in 3 rebill Im happy to promote the site if not I move on.

I agree Content alone is not enough we are working on diary entries for "Venice Archer" and very different storylines to most adult material.
One strength we have in our company is enough "Creative" talent to keep the viewer interested week after week ( We have produced TV )

So great point you make is to keep the members area an experience (Thank you)

I dont want anybody elses galleries on our site.... period

I am extemely confident that our site falls into your third area of a "Stand alone" site

Oh and anything you may say about our site will be taken on board and dealt with as you guys know the web... WE DONT but we do know how to produce good quality content with great locations and great action

I would say 500 is not enough no matter how exclusive, although if it's niche exclusive then you could always pad the site out with plug ins and stuff.

You can also make that 500 appear like there is more by the way you present it.

I would say you would be better going for at lwast 1,000 - 1,500 though, of course I would expect the lack of centent to reflect in the price or are you going to charge $29.99 or more?

I would like 10 sets. All sets are from a single different series. Each set must have exactly 12 pics in in and all the sets must be in one folder. So the folder contains 120 pictures from 10 different sets. Now if each pic was under 80k in file size that would be great, if not dont worry I can edit them.

Is that something you can supply?
