google sandbox - do all sites go in there?

Got a domain on google in less than 2 weeks and im hitting on a few key search terms in the top ten, which I find amazing as like I say its only been on 2 weeks and all my other sites dont seem to be so fortunate, yet I have done nothing different.

So is it a case that google adds your site, runs it on the main index for a short period of time then sandboxes it, or do some sites fortunately escape it?

i get that a lot with new domains

they show top 5 in the serps for a few days . . then vanish

They dont seem to unless its a very long time later, couple of years for some domains Ive had
