Well I have to say I am not a big fan of ebay though I decided to give it a wurl and got shot of a couple of old PDA's I have had knocking about here for ages.

Both sold and I got a good prce for them though Paypal was anightmare so just spent the money on things I wanted.

Basically my gripe is with the people who advertise goods on Ebay they look cheap and a great deal then you check out and then wack on VAT, what pissed me off most was they added the VAT not to the goods but also the shipping so what would have cost me £40 on the highstreet ended up costing me £41 (Yes it was a game)

Anyhow I just left em feedback and the item shows as a sale to me for just £24.99 - which is utter crap, three things annoy me anout this

1) Theres nothing in their ID to back up that are VAT registered
2) VAT was added to postage and game
3) Tranx shows as a low one despite the figure being a lot higher.

I am bloody tempted to find out if the seller is VAT registered or indeed pays VAT on sales, - have to say its bollocks and this type of listing should not be allowed.

If you have been charged VAT you SHOULD get a VAT sales invoice with all the correct company details including the VAT number,if you don't get one then it sounds like the seller is scamming you and the VAT man.:cheers2:

Ask the seller for VAT sales invoice and tell em if they don't supply it you will
contact the VAT man.
or if that don't work contact fraud.alert@met.police.uk
The guys at the met helped me a when I kept getting blagging emails
from some tit in NYC claiming to be from Barclays Bank.
Some eBAY traders are f***** crooks, aleast with "pikies" you can see their face.

If you paid with Paypal leave a complaint with them about false charges, at least they will place his money on hold whilst they look into it.

If you use ebay to buy games just buy second hand ones?
They are 99% looked after and they go for alot cheaper.
Also read the listing fully first to make sure it does not mention VAT added on.
If you have a look around you can get them cheap as, I got Tiger Woods 2007 for the 360 brand new & sealed for £25!
I'm selling 4 games if anyone wants them? I have to sacrifice my 360 if I want a new SLR camera :-(
Rainbow six vegas
PGR 3
Over G Fighters
Top Spin 2

Am not pulling a sales pitch, lol. I'm going to list them on fleabay but If anyone wants them let me know.

I went to the supermarket the other week when the new Bond film came out and there was loads of advertising for the film and they were selling it at a discount of £7 per film. So I went to buy one and the sales girl in the entertainment section told me that some ebay pikey had been in first thing and bought the lot to put on fleabay! lol

Since march ebay have been charging VAT onto all sellers sales so now they arent just charged ebay fees but also vat on top of it. I think Ebay have had the same problems as us VAT wise and are now charging for it.

They clearly said they would add vat on the sale though no where have they listed their VAT number, this concerns me, does it mean I can just wack on VAT if I want and get a further 17.5% on a sale.

Anyhow I've had enough of that place, Beverley high street is where Im going or amazon!!!!!

They cant charge VAT or claim back VAT unless they have already registered their VAT number with ebay. Some new ruling they and the VAT people bought in just last week.

I doubt they would put on VAT if they are not VAT registered. But if they didnt tell you first it was plus VAT thats a pisser. You can understand it on a business item but not on a game.

Ebay is good for one thing. Getting pissed and buying crap that you dont want or need at 2 oclock in the morning. I love ebay :gaylords:

You call someone a pikey because they got off their arse to get something before you...

I would call them an entrepreneur

I almost got conned when i was selling a phone. I sold a Sidekick 2 for a well over the retail price then i got an email saying to send it to Namibia. I got a fake paypal email saying they had paid when they obviously hadnt. Luckily i knew what they were trying to do, so i sold it to the next highest bidder and got the payment straight away. You've gotta be careful with selling electricals because little bastards will try and scam you!

there is one simple rule in any financial transaction..

never do business with ANYONE from an African country EVER.

As soon as the word Namibia raised its ugly head that should have been enough to set alarm bells ringing
