Ok I remember on XP that when you extracted zip files it was almost instant, on vista it takes forever and a year to do it, why?!
It's taking me at least 5-10 minutes per sponsor zip rather than the one or two it used to.
It's very fucking frustratin!

Unzipping a gig file should only take 30 seconds - What sort of set up do you have?

Oh I know that which is why it baffles me that it takes so long to unzip, it was NEVER like that on XP it's only Vista.
Setup? You can edit settings somewhere?
maybe you need to update the version of winzip you have?
Are you using Winzip at all? Doesn't Vista have its own built in Zip app? Would not surprise me that it was dire.

I have no iea it its winzip but I assume it would be.
I just click on a zipped file then the extract all button on the menu.
Had a look around for wizip couldnt see it...
I use winrar its quite good and for extra good comperssion try 7zip (excellent for zipping huge databases)

If you downloaded the zip file off the internet it will have the "downloaded from internet" flag set on it - later versions of Winzip will restore this flag on all extracted files making it really slow
Right click and view properties for the zip file - there will probably be a button that says "unblock" - try pressing that

If you didn't install Winzip yourself then you don't have it, download the demo and give it a shot.
What Vista is giving you is its own unzipping program, not the real thing.
